A whole 35-foot dinosaur fossil was recently discovered in Canada by workers of the Tourmaline Oil Corp. The tail of the dinosaur fossil was reportedly hit by a backhoe operator in a construction site in the town of Spirit River. According to Paleontologist Matthew Vavrek, seeing the rare dinosaur fossil “is pretty incredible.” Vavrek explained that “The last time I’ve seen something like that was in a museum. I’ve never found something like this before.”
The dinosaur was excavated by a construction worker who was trying to remove rocks in an area where oil pipelines will soon be laid down. Finding a complete set of fossil is very rare for Paleontologists. They usually found them scattered or some parts missing.
Though the dinosaur remains is still complete, its fossil is as fragile as crumbs. Vavrek requested workers to “handle it carefully, or it’s just going to shatter.” This means that removing the dinosaur in the area could take weeks.
